The Popps 1961 MOD is a men's suede monkey boot in sand, a pale beige take on a classic lace-up style with a round toe, ankle-height shaft and a flat heel under 2.5cm.

The suede is burnished, so it starts out with a slightly weathered look rather than a flat, new finish. That means the sand colour settles in quickly, with the creases across the vamp and the knocks around the toe reading as part of the character instead of damage. Over time the nap softens where the foot flexes, and the lighter tone of the upper shows that wear more openly than a darker boot would.

Inside there is a textile lining, and the TPR sole keeps things low and flat underfoot. The boot is built on a regular width fit and fastens with laces, so it can be snugged or eased to suit the foot. It suits anyone after a casual boot with mod leanings, worn with turned-up jeans, cords or straight trousers, and the sand shade sits comfortably with both lighter and darker outfits.

Confortable shoes, right size. Maybe i found them too much flat, prefering low heel and more thick rubber sole shoes. No need to break in as the leather (?) is really soft. While walking tought an embaracing “yek” hope will stop soon 😆
